xDR mediation profile solution [ mepros ]

Summary:
The mediation profile solution mepros is a complex software which is able to control if the dropped records out of a mediation system are dropped correctly or not.

In order to attain a perfect overview and control of the billing chain, it is most important to view not only the regular but also the dropped xDRs in the value chain. To ensure this we will implement the dropp-rules from the specifications in mepros and we will not use a copy of the rules from the mediation system. We will then compare the dropped xDRs against the mepros rules and determines any discrepancies which will be communicated by the system accordingly.

Definition of problem:
The rule profile of the mediation device is a very complex compilation of different rules and regulations that define which xDRs are irrelevant for the billing process and can therefore be excluded. Some network operatorsī rule profiles contain more than 2000 rules and regulations. As these profiles contain many different internal dependences which result from the constant growth of the system, it is almost impossible to understand the correlation of the profiles or to amend them. Therefore rules that were once implemented but do not correspond to the current billing scheme cause an unrecognized but substantial financial loss.

belerofonīs solution mepros deals with these problems. The processes are being improved and the financial loss for the network operator is clearly reduced.

Mediation Profile Solution [mepros]
The mepros is verifying the dropping rules of the Mediation Device. An independent and automatic analysis of the dropped, not charged xDRs identifies incorrectly disqualified records. The mepros automatically identifies dropped records that do not match the independently recreated rules set of the mepros. In this case an alarm is raised. The mepros offers statistical analysis for disqualified xDRs. By defining a threshold value for each rule profile, operators will be enabled for the first time to react on statistical deviations. If the amount of disqualified xDRs exceeds a threshold value it might for example result from changes in the tariff scheme that have not been integrated in the rule profile set, or it can even indicate fraud. By exceeding a threshold value an alarm will be raised. The abilities of mepros to detect in-correctly disqualified xDRs allows for advanced reporting and analyse possibilities. The combination of the mepros with daos guarantees that incorrect xDRs that have been disqualified according to the rule profile set, can be corrected and returned towards the billing chain.
